    In 2018 I set up an archive of historically important photographs of Chichester Harbour in partnership with West Sussex Records Office in Chichester. Today the archive consists of over 3000 records and includes glass plate negative, silver gelatin prints, film negatives, magic lantern slides, and postcards predominantly of the harbourside villages of Bosham, Chidham, Dell Quay, Emsworth, Fishbourne, Itchenor, South Hayling and West Wittering.   • About Luke Whitaker

    Luke Whitaker (b.1978) was born in London and educated at King's College School in Wimbledon and Cambridge University where he graduated with a degree in Economics in 2000. He spent the first part of his career working in the City, on the US equities desk at Goldman Sachs and he then worked for Accenture at the London Stock Exchange. A change of career followed and in 2012 Luke set up Bosham Gallery, specialising in the marketing and sales of limited edition photographs, and a business course programme for photographers themselves. Between 2012-2022 Luke ran a year-round exhibition from the physical gallery space on the waterfront at No.1 High Street in Bosham, West Sussex.

     

    In 2018, Luke set up an archive of historically important original prints of Chichester Harbour. In 2020, Luke set up a second photography gallery in partnership with David Mark in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2021 & 2022 his gallery was awarded Best Fine Art Photography Gallery in the SME News Southern Business Awards. In 2022, Luke's gallery was awarded Best Boutique Fine Art Gallery in the Global Business Insight Awards. Since 2022, Luke's gallery has been purely online, allowing Luke & his team to expand his business course programme and services for photographers, and work on larger corporate photogrpahy projects. In 2023, Luke set up a significant archive of precious and rare photographs on behalf of Westons Cider in Herefordshire, and ran a team that handled the digital restoration of 19th century prints to allow the company to use the images in their marketing and sales campaigns. In 2024, Luke's gallery was awarded Best Boutique Fine Art Gallery in the Global Business Insight Awards for a second time.

     

    Luke has a lifelong passion for photography, and specialises in the marketing and sales of rare, limited edition prints and their framing.  He collects photographs himself and is drawn to prints made between 1880-1920, which is his favourite period in the history of photography, in particular photographs of Victorian fishing boats and trading schooners on Britain's south coastline, and of Cambridge. His personal interests revolve around sport, and he is heavily into cricket and rugby.
