"I often think that an image of spring might carry with it a sense of the dawn of time and a little mist may facilitate that feeling. I well remember a photograph I made in Tuscany where the heavy overnight rain delivered a dawn mist that I described as swirling chiffon. There is nothing quite like the huge emotional tug that comes with witnessing a sea of pink and white almond blossom. To my mind spring is also about hope. When I look back at how I was feeling when I made this photograph, that same sense of hope and wonder is evoked when I look at the image of it now. I would wish that those who may enjoy it will experience the same sentiment. If so, then it could be said that the photograph will have been a conduit in transporting the viewer to the same state of mind that I enjoyed on that heady full on spring day in February amongst the almond blossom of southern Spain."
