We undoubtedly bring much of ourselves into the images we make and for many the depiction of the harsh realities of the modern world are a way of making sense of things, furthering knowledge, exposing untruths, holding people to account etc etc. Myriad different reasons. I have been on the planet long enough to realise this approach is best left to others. My outlook tends to the positive and upbeat, and for me, creative endeavours are an escape - something I can lose myself in in order to (hopefully) produce something visually pleasing and uplifting. And so I would rather focus on hope than despair. Cheer rather than gloom. The silver lining instead of the cloud.
