"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." ― L.M. Montgomery
Another L.M. Montgomery quote. Another simple tree. Modest in shape and ambition, it stood with quiet contentment on the edge. In life and in art I am drawn to the disconnected, the isolated and the detached. I seek out the solitary not the multitude; singularity over commonality. I suspect many creative people do the same. This is an acer - and although its delicate foliage is undoubtedly fragile, it is the light on the leaves which has taken my eye - a light that to me seemed both insistent and brittle. By moving my camera and layering light over light, I have tried to emphasise the early autumnal glow; the rich tapestry of colour and texture that Mother Nature treats us to every year as the days shorten."
