"The Holy Trinity Church, one of the oldest in Sussex stands with quiet authority next to a millstream and National Trust-owned meadow. Taken in early spring, Mother Nature was doing her exuberant best to put on a good show and so my intention was to highlight and emphasize this generosity and abundance. Wildflower meadows are no longer the common occurrence they once were and although the cow parsley depicted here is a familiar sight, it is no less pretty for that. Interspersed with a few adventurous bluebells and some precociously early buttercups, the tapestry of spring colours and rampant vegetation fills me with joy and optimism. On days like these I feel profoundly grateful that I live in a country that enjoys such diverse seasonal fluctuations."  Valda Bailey
