"A relatively nondescript body of water in a park in Hastings offered up a lot more interest than was initially apparent. An excuse to sit and observe - sometimes for hours on end - is one of the many very real bonuses afforded to those involved in artistic endeavours. Others might call it idleness but we know better. Reflections on water tease and tantalise most photographers - shimmying and zigzagging across the frame; utterly fascinating in their elusive and ever-changing abstraction. Perhaps it's the movement that appeals; perhaps it's the shifting shapes and colours flowing impulsively with the water . Or maybe it's the mystery of what lies beneath. Images with multiple layers of interest intrigue me. Here I am concerned with the portrayal of the superficial surface foliage - bright, pastelly and frivolous and its relationship not only with the dark and slightly foreboding shapes of the naked trees, but also with the mysteries of what goes on beneath the surface."
