"Mariquita is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite yacht to photograph. She's big, fast and beautifully proportioned. She has one of the best crews in the business and downwind she looks magnificent, especially if she is flying her large jack yard topsail. This photograph was taken in Argentario in Italy just before the finish of a long five-hour race as she sailed with the wind behind her. I was keen to photograph into the light allowing the sunshine to flood through the sails. Unfortunately at the angle Mariquita was sailing the sun was too harsh and the highlights were too much for the camera to handle until she very slowly veered to starboard and away from the direct sunshine. It was probably only 10 - 20 degrees but for a moment she was at right angles to the rib with all her sails well set. Game, set and match to me...this time."
