"At most classic regattas the yachts are generally moored in the harbour. This makes it easier for the crews to come and go and also allows the spectators to get really close to these beautiful yachts. It's not bad for the photographers either. At the Fife Regatta in Scotland in 2008 the organisers had an unprecedented number of yachts attend including Altair, Mariette, Moonbeam III and Halloween. There wasn't room in the relatively small marina at Largs for all the yachts. I noticed this on the Friday evening when we arrived at the regatta. The forecast for the weekend was pretty grim with rain due by 10.00am the following morning. I set my alarm for 6.30am and by breakfast time I'd got this lovely picture in the bag. By the time they started racing the cloud had rolled in."
