"I've taken so many sailing photographs over the years that occasionally my recollection of what happened can be a little hazy. With this photograph I can remember everything about it as if it was yesterday. A moment before I took the shot, one of the crew members had nearly gone man overboard - saved by the skipper George Newman who managed to haul him back on board from the leeward side. You can tell the yacht is over powered by all the water on the decks and the way the helmsman is struggling on the wheel. It's a terrific action shot but what I really like are all the little details: the bowman making his way down the bowsprit, the light glistening off the tender, the uniforms all dirty from the hard sailing and the owner at the stern looking on watchfully. I've taken many photographs from this quarter angle but never one with so much drama and detail."
