This aerial photograph of Mariquita taken from a helicopter is a good example of what Gary was getting at in his clever observation on photography. Everyone knows that Mariquita is one of the most beautiful boats in the world but this photograph just rams that fact home. The sleekness, the never-ending boom disappearing behind the transom, the turquoise keel under the waterline, the crew strewn out across the deck. This is one of the finest photographs I've ever taken because it shows the power of photography to reveal exceptional beauty.
