Velsheda is one of only ten J-Class yachts. Launched in 1933, Velsheda represented the latest in rig and sail design. She won more than 40 races in her second season. In 1996, Velsheda was taken to Southampton where she was fitted with the tallest one-piece carbon mast in the world. She was relaunched in 1997. In 1999, a new era of J-Class sailing began when Shamrock V, Velsheda and Endeavour competed in the Antigua Classics Regatta, where this photograph was taken.
