Connie is a Haven 12 1/2, designed by Joel White, son of writer E. B. White. Joel designed his Haven sloops to be successors to the Herreshoff 12 1/2's. By using Herreshoff's designs as an outline, the Haven sloops embody the best attributes of the Herreshoff's, and are perfect for small day sails. Taking the Herreshoff/White designs, the Brooklin, Maine boatbuilder, Eric Dow Boatshop, showed an affinity of the amalgam of the designers and is still building the Haven 12 1/2.
